Setup guide

Google ads to your own Stripe site

Attribute Stripe sales on your own site to Google campaigns, with no redirect.

You need

  • A website you can add a script tag to
  • A Stripe account using Checkout
  • A Google Ads account
  1. Step 1: Install the snippet and connect Stripe

Follow the snippet and Stripe guide first: add your site, paste the snippet, add the webhook endpoint and pass the visitor ID into Checkout.

  2. Step 2: Tag your Google ads with UTM parameters

You do not need a tracking link for your own site: Google sends visitors straight to it, and the snippet reads the UTM parameters. In Google Ads, add a Final URL suffix at account or campaign level. Google fills in the ValueTrack parameters in braces.

    Final URL suffix
    utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign={campaignid}&utm_content={creative}&utm_term={keyword}
  3. Step 3: Check that visits arrive

Click one of your ads (or open your site with the same parameters added by hand). The visit appears in the site dashboard with source google and the campaign ID.

  4. Step 4: Make a test purchase

Use Stripe test mode and a test card to buy from a page you reached through a tagged URL. The sale shows up in ClickMesh attributed to that visit’s source and UTM campaign.

  5. Step 5: Add Google Ads spend

Export campaign cost by day from Google Ads and upload it with the generic CSV format, or enter daily spend by hand. The importer shows which columns it expects.

  6. Step 6: Read revenue and profit per campaign

The site dashboard shows visitors, sources, UTM campaigns, pages and countries, with Stripe revenue next to each source and campaign. Add the cost and you see profit and ROI per Google campaign.
